Generic Conventions of a Comedy

Camera

·         Most likely high shots are used in a comedy to capture the whole event that is happening in that scene.

·         The use of medium shots are used in a comedy to catch all of the characters expressions.

·         Camera is very natural and follows the characters.


Themes

·         Anarchic comedy

·         Slapstick

·         Sports comedy

·         Parody

·         Romantic comedy

·         Screwball comedy

Iconography

·         The lighting tends to be rather bright and shot during the day time.

·         The kinds of props that I used tend to be sports equipment such as footballs, tennis equipment, rugby balls as they are used to make people laugh in the sense that one of the character will get hit by one.

·         In comedy bright colours such as blue, yellow are the most common colours used in a comedy as they are stereotypically associated with comedies.

Films similar to our chosen genre

 

The films to the left share the same genre as my film. The genre is comedy, firstly we chose comedy as we believed it would be the best fit for all members in our group, we believed choosing comedy will enhance our film opening in the sense that we knew the most about this genre in comparison to the other genre’s. The front cover of all of them three film are colourful and bright which is a key element in the genre comedy, when audiences see the bright colourful front covers they instantly see that it is comedy. This is one reason how they attract their audiences and also how we will attract our audience. Also, their trailers and opening scenes are humorous which will also attract people to watch their films as when people find something funny they instantly want to watch it.

Institutional Logo

This is my idea for our production company logo, this will be one of two logos produced by our group which will give us options of what our logo will look like. We could use one of these logos or combine ideas from all three. by combining all three together would mean that we all contributed to it. I chose this for my design as I believes the image of the yeti figure and the text went really well together. When people view this logo I believe it will have a lasting affect on them and as soon as they see it they will know what company it is straight away.
